Rainbow Cake

Remember this baby from this post  a couple of weeks ago? Well, today I am going to share with you how I made it :)

First you get yourself a pretty plate...

Then you whip up a batch of whipping cream. ( i used a full liter of whipping cream, half for all the different colours and half just plain white) Next, I got six small bowls and evenly distributed the whipped cream into each bowl. Then I added food colourings to make red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. I then used some of the yellow (because that colour had the most w-cream) and smeared it on the plate in the shape I wanted, with the idea to sort of glue down the cookies. I used Mr. Christie's Chocolate Wafers (you can get them at any grocery store I believe)

Then working in reverse "ROYGBIV" I layered the coloured whipped creams and wafers...

Until I ended up with this....

Doesn't it look pretty and colourful?! I actually really liked it like this, but I had other plans! Next I added one more layer of wafers and covered the whole shebang in plain white w-cream.

And finally, my little helper Nyla and I, added the finishing touch, CANDY! I used mostly Smarties, with a few Skittles filling in here and there (mostly just in the red row, you can tell the Skittles as they're a bit smaller)

The very final step was to put it in the freezer for awhile and let it set so that I could cut it without everything smooshing out. Worked pretty good! The girls were pretty impressed too :)

And it made my birthday girl very happy :)

All in all it was a very easy cake to make and very fun too! I enjoyed playing with all the colours and trying something completely different than my usual traditional cakes. Thanks again Sherry for the idea!

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

P.S.  You can check out more about the rest of the Rainbow party HERE
